Labor Standards and Social Legislation

Wala lang! Ang haba ng exam ko sa Labor. Pinakahuling exam tapos isa pa sa pinakamahirap. I really should buy the book "Suggested Answers to the Bar Examinations." Omar Diamel and Eric Dollete both have those. I think its available in Central Bookstore, if not, I'll buy it in UP Law Center.  Atty. Iris usually takes her questions there.

But anyways, it’s the last exam. Yuppie!

To quote the Creed, I say again:

I do not choose to be an ordinary man
It is my right to be above ordinary, if I can
I seek opportunity, not security.

I do not wish to be kept citizen
Humbled and dulled by having
The state look after me.

I want to take the calculated risk
To dream and to build,
To fail and to succeed.

I refuse to barter incentives
For a dole out.

I prefer the challenges of life
To a guaranteed existence.
The thrill of excitement
To the state of calm serenity.

I will not trade freedom
From beneficence,
Nor my dignity... for a handout.

I will never cower
Before any master
Nor bend to any threat.

It is my heritage to be
Steadfast, proud and unafraid;
To think and act for myself,
Enjoy the benefits of my creation
And to face the world boldly
And say... This is I have done.
This is what it means to be a
TAU KAPPAN.

To end, may I quote Hunter S. Thompson who was once heard of saying : "Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish — a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow — to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested... Res ipsa loquitur. Let the good times roll." Gonzo Papers, Vol. 2: Generation of Swine: Tales of Shame and Degradation in the '80s (1988)

Introduction to Legal Ethics

This subject is best summarized by the oath, we lawyers (feeling) take upon passing the bar. So what best to quote it so that I shall remember to live my life according to this oath.

LAWYER'S OATH

I, IAN DELA CRUZ ENCARNACION, of CAVITE CITY, do solemnly swear that I will maintain allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines; I will support its Constitution and obey the laws as well as the legal orders of the duly constituted authorities therein; I will do no falsehood, nor consent to the doing of any in court; I will not wittingly or willingly promote or sue any groundless, false or unlawful suit, nor give aid nor consent to the same; I will delay no man for money or malice, and will conduct myself as a lawyer according to the best of my knowledge and discretion with all good fidelity as well to the courts as to my clients; and I impose upon myself this voluntary obligation without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. So help me God.

Overlooking Pasig City

Have you been to Nipa Hut in Pasig City?

This is a good place. Too bad I have not bought any good cameras to capture the view. But it’s really good. It’s near Meralco Avenue, just a few turns and you’re there. And when you are there, the feeling is ecstatically romantic. If I’m going to bring a girl out on a dinner, I’ll treat her out in Metrowalk or at Tiendesitas, then for a romantic stop, we’ll stay at Nipa Hut. Dang!

I’ll update this thread soon.
